Happy to be in Rome.

Outside the Vatican Museum waiting to go in with the tour guide.

Inside the Vatican.

  Outside in St Peter's Square

The tour of the Vatican took 3.5 hours.  It was a bit like going in to IKEA and not being able to get.  We wound round and round, through many rooms and hallways.  The Sistene Chapel was disappointing.  It was extremely crowded like cattle in a sale yard, shoulder to shoulder.

I had hoped to be spiritually moved in the Vatican, but was disappointed.  It is a story of power, money, oppression and pride.  Humility was no where to be seen.  Here we have the story of Christ, and He was never mentioned.  A grand opportunity for evenagelsation lost in the money changers hands.  I had moments when I wondered if Jesus would have come in with his whip in hand.  I felt grieved.  Paul was reminded of the indulgences.  But I remember that the church is not a building it is people, and God is not there, He is in me, with me.
